HE was Built for Speed!

"Can you uh... help me out?"

HE just performed their second gig in Berlin, last night, at King Kong Club!  We had such a fun time with the crowd who organized the event-party: Mad Kate and Juan Of a Kind, and everybody else at Built for Speed!

"Lonely no More!"

I just wrote a full piece on my personal blog.  I was hoping to double publish it, but I can't seem to make that happen.  Sorry about that.

Please check it out!  Click here!

P.S. Our act was qualified as, and I quote: "smart".
Thanks Meg.

Here we go!

Harvey here.  Eve and I have both vacated our respective residences in San Francisco.  I spent te night at a friend's in Oakland and am getting on a plane to LA today.  Tomorrow I fly to London, arriving at 10 am Thursday morning.  What to do in London from the 8th to the 13th?  Busking comes to mind as a good way to not spend all my money.  Maybe I can find a gig.
I arrive in Berlin on the 14th and start my 2 month sublet with Bridge Markland then!  An adventure to be sure!

Here's the Berlin giglist:

Harvey Rabbit solo:

Sept. 17th & 18th at ZirCouplet
Sept. 21st Unparty at the KingKongKlub

HE duo:

Oct. 1st at Barbie Dienhoff's
Oct.2nd at Scheinbar Vareité

and more to come!

Fundraiser debriefing

Last friday was our big fundraising event at The Garage.
Many friends had sworn they were coming and I was afraid we'd have to turn people away at the door, which made me especially nervous.  Of course there was the potentiality of me being a total fool for believing and claiming that, but I had made partial lists of friends and it really looked like we were gonna sell out... And we did!  (Though I don't think anybody was sent home.
Joe and Donna (The Garage people: you rock!!)  added a few seats in the audience, and we had a nice crowd gathered by the time we started the show.

Rotimi stepped up to the plate as our Mistress of Ceremony, Fraulein Kit Kat.  Phoenix then opened the show and set the tone of the evening with her warm, slow, and sexy dance piece.  Following her was CoiCoi the clown, wearing her neon yellow one-piece stretchy suit and her red nose.  Her clown took us on a short trip through laughter and tragedy, and left the audience delighted and wanting for more.  So came another performer.  Dressed in a taxi driver's clothing, Samphibian wandered on stage and gradually stripped down to reveal herself and display some really impressive contorsion skills!  From the back of the room I could hear the "ooooh! aaaahh!" of the audience.  On my face - Magda's, that is - an everlasting smile translating the joy and satisfaction from seeing this party happening!  Sam's act added something very special - that is, circussssy! - to a night of clowning and dancing.  But Dr.Zebrowski also gifted us with a unique number in which he shared his psychic powers and danced the horoscope of each twelve zodiac signs!!!  Laughter was on!  Fraulein Kit Kat then returned with her own high-quality act, singing "cabaret" while dancing on and around a lucky chair.
I have such talented friends!!!
"HE" appeared last, of course.  It was finally our time to share what we'd been working so hard at!  Weeks of rehearsals in front of empty chairs!  Now, there was a room full of friends... would they laugh?  Would the show meet their expectations?
I haven't seen the recording yet, but I know people laughed a lot.  I think they were shocked at times too, which is excellent.  I personally had a blast playing Magda (I've become quite fluent in gibberish by now!) and interacting with the audience.  I wish the play ran longer still.  Hopefully, we'll be developping new material after we settle in Berlin... in about three weeks!!

So thank you to all those who came out.  Our fundraiser helped us gather about 320$, which will be used in the building of an ever better cake puppet, as well as multiple replicas of "breadman".

We would love to read your comments and questions!

And if you couldn't make it but want to support our work, you can always visit our GoFundMe page .

Stay tuned for videos and photos of the event!

One week away!

Our big event is now only one week away!  Harvey and I have been rehearsing a lot, and our play "ShameNoShame!" is just getting better and better!  Yet clowns without an audience can't quite be clowns... So we can't wait to share our crazy stuff with you!

One more thing.  We've added a fabulous performer to our line-up.  Re-known Dr.Zebrowski (Kevin Seaman) shall join us with his psychic abilities and his dancing talents!

10-20$ sliding scale at the door (we get to keep half of the door, the other half goes to Joe Landini for being such a sweetheart and keeping our artistic community thriving and creating and visible!!! Thanks Joe!)

And bring some bucks for booze.  Our after-party will feature wines, "cock-tails", and beer.  Come, mingle, enjoy the magic and the love... It's gonna be a gooood night!

We have an Amazing LineUp for the fundraiser !!

HE is extremely excited to announce the fabulously talented guest artists who will be joining us for the fundraiser... which, by the way, is only a month away now!
*** (check out their websites and info on what they're about! It's easy, just click on the links!)

  • Rotimi Agbabiaka has graciously accepted to be our MC in drag!  Rotimi is currently working for Beach Blanket Babylon.  His one-man play "Homeless" won last year's Best of Fringe.  We became roommates when he moved to SF and joined the cast of the San Francisco Mime Troupe in last summer's Possibilidad.  I miss hearing him sing in the shower, and I am cannot wait to see him all dressed up on our stage!
  • Phoenix Piwowarski works full-time as an expressive arts therapist, in the East Bay, but she has committed to make time and choreograph a dazzling interpretive belly dance piece for our pleasure!
  • Samphibian has a funny and daring contortion act to throw in our mix!! Originally from Winnipeg, Sam travelled all over Canada before moving to China to train for a year.  She then met her teacher and mentor, Serchmaa Byamba, at the SF Circus Center where I had the pleasure to meet her during my year at the clown conservatory.
  • Carolina Duncan, aka CoiCoi will be performing an excerpt from her one-woman show called "Thread", which is actually opening at The Garage on August 4th.  Carolina is also a graduate from the clown conservatory, and she has spent the last two years training in physical theater with James Donlon and Leonard Pitt at the Flying Actor Studio.  She is immensely talented and we are very honored to have her perform with us.
  • Evelie Delfino Såles Posch is a sacred singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, storyteller, sound healer/ shamanic healer, etc.  (see full bio)  She is the heartistic director of the Spiral Dance Chorus, where I sang under her direction a few lunar years ago.  She has offered to officiate the ritual component of the evening!!  HE feels undoubtedly blessed!!
  • After the performance (which will culminate with HE's ShameNoShame!), we'll invite you to join us down in the sweet-looking basement of The Garage.  We'll be mingling and lounging in a sweet and playful atmosphere, with Johnny Kearns walking around, blowing your minds with his skillful and enchanting close-up magic!
  • Chill beats will be provided through our very own British DJ, Matt K.
  • We have also recruited some seriously splendid waitresses to serve you drinks, alcoholic or virgin...  ;)

Did I say I'm excited?!  I mean.. for my last party in San Francisco... this is pret-ty darn wonder-full!!!
